Our Favorite Things

We each have a common bond through our shared experiences from high school long ago.  However, we can strengthen that bond by sharing more of ourselves with our classmates.  We each surely know ourselves better now than we did while in high school.  So let's each share ourselves by sharing our dreams, our favorite books, our favorite activities, our most admired person, our greatest achievement, our proudest moment; anything that you were inspired by, strengthened by, encouraged by, guided by, affirmed by, or just whatever.

The essence of life is to care,

The secret of life is to dare,

The adventure of life is to learn,

The challenge of life is to change,

The joy of life is to love.

Clayton & Jane Bratcher:  Favorite activity - visiting with friends and family and sitting on our hill watching the cows, deer and turkeys.

David McConnell:  Favorite book - "The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman" by Laurence Sterne.  It is an extremely funny book and an extremely difficult book to read and understand.  It was Thomas Jefferson's favorite book.  It is sometimes referred to as the first psychological novel.

Favorite activity - Visiting with old friends.

Favorite Scripture Verse - "...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." (2nd Corinthians 3:17)

Person I most admire - Sir Isaac Newton.  He was probably the greatest scientist that ever lived.  He likely created more science than anyone who has ever lived, all in the face of tremendous hostility from contemporaries.  Although known to very few, he wrote considerably more on theology than on science.  He was a man of great faith.

Jamey & Linda Duncan (Linda):  My favorite thing to do is sit on my front porch watering my grass, watching the traffic go by, and watching the grass grow.  It beats being a couch potato like Jamey is.  It even gets exciting sometimes when the fire truck goes by.  o:)

Eddy & Doris (Richardson) Raymond:  We enjoy our large family reunions, taking occasional trips with siblings, and going on day trips with a group of seniors from our church.

Richard Clark:  Marsha and I love to travel.  We really like the RV lifestyle.  We're not "full-timers"; but we really like to wake up at the campsite listening to the birds sing and the water flowing in a nearby stream.  Sitting around the camp fire with friends and family while talking about the good old days is a most pleasant experience.  I wish you could be there when Marsha makes her famous "biscuits" or "mountain man breakfast" in her Dutch oven over the camp fire.  We also love to cruise.  This is what Marsha likes best.  We have cruised seven times; mostly, to the Caribbean, but Alaska was my personal favorite.  We usually go with our daughter's family; however, we really enjoyed going to the Eastern Caribbean with David and Jane McConnell.

Bill Rennels:  Now that we are retired, we enjoy our grand kids and traveling.  We have traveled to 40 of the 50 states.  We've been to Canada twice and to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.  Earlier this summer we went to Hawaii.  Our goal is to see all 50 states.

Ann (Briley) Weiss:  My Favorite Words to Live By

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future."  (Jeremiah 29:11)

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overfow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."  (Romans 15:13)

"We cannot do great things on this earth.  We can only do small things with great love." (Mother Teresa)

"Imagine being so full of gratitude that you wake up every day happy just to be alive, breathing the air, enjoying the beauty of the natural world, and maybe even sitting next to someone you love." (From "An Hour to Live, an Hour to Love."

Tommy Gwin:  My favorite things are riding motorcycles and helping people.

OK, can't some of you now join in and add something of yourself.  I'm going to add more, but I don't want to be pigish about it.  Send me an email with your favorite things and I'll add them.
