SAS Tribute book

Here I want to say many thanks to the photographers who have given me the permission to print their image into the SAS MD-80 Tribute book.

Without these photographers permission, the book had never been created​​.

The book was handed over to the Executive Vice President of SAS, Flemming Jensen

How to phase out an aircraft like the MD-80 which has proven at its best, been a stable plane and a real workhorse and has been a permanent part of SAS for so many years, so it has almost become an icon for SAS. Such a successful SAS MD-80 era must be completed with respect to the plane and all the SAS employees who have faithfully made it a great experience to fly with SAS.

How do I say thanks for the invitation to such a remarkable historic day?

I came to the conclusion that it would be in the right place to make one unique SAS MD-80 tribute book that can bring back good memories, now and in the future. The book must therefore reproduce the life of the MD-80 aircraft with some of the finest images.

Therefore, I have searched the Internet for the most amazing pictures taken of the best photographers around the world. There have been glanced at thousands of images of the plane with its stylish "figure", a popular target for aircraft spotters. When the best images were selected, the work began to contact all these photographers to get their permission to publish them in this book. I will not take credit for these great pictures but will thank the benevolent photographers who have contributed to the creation of the book. As thanks, I have given all photographers an opportunity to make a goodbye text in the back of the book

Hvordan udfaser man et fly som MD-80’ern, som har vist sig fra sin bedste side, har været et stabilt fly og en rigtig arbejdshest og som har har været en fast del af SAS i så mange år, så det nærmest er blevet et ikon for SAS. En så succesfuld SAS MD-80 æra skal afsluttes med respekt for flyet og for alle de SAS medarbejdere, som trofast har gjort det til en fantastisk oplevelse at flyve med SAS.

Og hvordan takker man for en invitation til en så markant historisk dag?

Jeg kom frem til, at det ville være på rette plads, at lave én unik SAS MD-80 hyldest bog, som kan bringe glade minder frem både nu og i fremtiden. Bogen skal derfor gengive hverdagen for MD-80 flyet med nogle af de flotteste billeder.

Derfor satte jeg mig for at finkæmme internettet, for de mest fantastiske billeder, taget af de dygtigste fotografer, rundt om i verdenen. Der er blevet kikket på mange tusinde billeder, for flyet med sin flotte ”figur” er et populært mål for flyspotteren. Da de bedste billeder var blevet udvalgt, så gik arbejdet i gang med at kontakte alle disse fotografer, for at få Deres tilladelse til at publicerer dem i denne bog. Jeg vil derfor ikke tage æren for disse flotte billeder, men vil takke de velvillige fotografer, som har bidraget med tilblivelsen af bogen. Som en tak, så har jeg givet alle fotografer en mulighed for, at komme med en farvel tekst, bagerst i bogen.
