National Seminar on Soft Computing Techniques in Computational Biology The DBT- BIF centre at the State Inter-University Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics (SIUCEB) jointly with the Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi, is organizing a National Seminar on Soft Computing Techniques in Computational Biology. The seminar is scheduled as three sessions. First and second session is at the State Inter-University Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics (SIUCEB) on October 14th and 15th of 2011 and the third session is at the Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi. Onam Celebrations 2011 Onam is the biggest festival of Keralam and is celebrated with immense joy and enthusiam all over the state. According to a popular legend, the festival is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. Onam is also a harvest festival. The beautiful landscape of Keralam can be seen in its full radiance at this time of the Malayalam New Year. People on this day celebrate this festival by community get together, feasts, cultural performances, playing various interesting games and exchanging good wishes.
