Pink & Brown Polka Dot Tiered Cake

I made this cake for my daughter Katie Scarlett's 2nd birthday.

The top cake tier was 6 inches round and made of 2 cake layers. (I used 2 of these 6 inch round cake pans

to make the top tier, and I used these Bake Even Strips.) It was iced in pink buttercream. (I used Wilton Wilton Petal Pink Icing Color

.) The bottom cake tier was 8 inch round and made up of 2 cake layers. (I used 2 of these 8 inch round cake pans

to make it, and I used bake even strips.) The bottom tier was iced in chocolate ganache. Each tier was about 4 inches tall. The chocolate layer had pink buttercream polka dots that I made using tip 3. The top pink layer had chocolate ganache polka dots that I made using tip 3. Tip 32 was used to make a shell boarder. I used Wilton icing bags

The bottom cake was on a 10 inch cake board. (Which was made of 3 Wilton 10-Inch Cake Circles

covered in white contact paper). The top cake was on a 6 inch cake board. (Which was made of 2 6-Inch Cake Circles

and covered with white contact paper). There were 8 Wooden Dowel Rods in the bottom cake supporting the top cake. I stored the cakes in plastic cake boxes in the refrigerator until the party. The Wilton Cake Caddy

is awesome because it is one of the few that is tall enough to hold a decorated cake.

The brown bow was made using Chocolate Rolled Fondant

. No one actually ate that. It would not have been good.

My little Katie Scarlett grew up to write and illustrate this darling children's book when she was 8 years old, "Princess katie and the Fairy Tea Party". Most little girls would love it! It is available on amazon.
