Find 3 ways you can play the game "Race to.." using dominoes to help your knowledge of place value and addition in math.
You will need: a box of dominoes, place value mat if needed.
Decide if you want to make the biggest or smallest number.
This can change every round if you would like.
Shuffle the dominos and make sure they are faced down. Each person takes 6 of the dominoes.
With the dominos you have to make the biggest or smallest number you can.
The second option is to use your knowledge of addition to make 50.
You will need: a box of dominoes, and something to make notes on (whiteboard, notebook or notes app on your iPad).
First, place all dominoes face down.
Take it in turns to flip a domino and add the numbers together. (You will need scrap paper or a whiteboard and marker to keep track).
The first player to reach 50 is the winner.
The third option is to use your knowledge of addition and multiplication to make 100.
You will need: a box of dominoes, and something to make notes on (whiteboard, notebook or notes app on your iPad).
First, place all dominoes face down.
Take it in turns to flip a domino and add or multiply the numbers together. (You will need scrap paper or a whiteboard and marker to keep track). Write down your answer to keep a running total.
The first person to reach 100 wins!
