Find 3 ways you can use Lego to help you understand fractions.
You will need: Lego/Duplo/unifix cubes. (Anything you can build together). Fraction cards.
Select a card from the pile. (Or write your own fraction if you don't have them written down).
Make the fraction using Lego or any building block equipment.
How many different fractions can you make?
Do you know how many pieces make a whole? You will be given a fraction and you need to decide how many more pieces you need to make a whole. Build it using Lego to help model your understanding.
You will need: Lego/Duplo/unifix cubes. (Anything you can build together). Fraction cards.
Turn all of your fraction cards over.
If you don't have any cards, write your fraction down.
Randomly select a fraction card and build it with your equipment.
How many more do you need to make 1 whole?
Use Lego to help you build a fraction and find as many fractions that are equivalent (the same).
You will need: Lego/Duplo/unifix cubes. (Anything you can build together). Fraction cards
Turn all of your fraction cards over.
If you don't have any cards, write your fraction down.
Select one fraction card. Build that fraction!
Using your knowledge of fractions how many other fractions can you build that are equivalent (the same as) your selected fraction?
