Can you use Lego to help you subtract?
You will need: Dice, Lego/Duplo/any form of building blocks, something to record your thinking (whiteboard, paper, iPad).
Everyone rolls 2 die. They use the die to make a 2 digit number using Lego blocks.
When everyone has created their tower students take it in turns to roll the die and subtract that from the number.
Decide if you will roll one dice to subtract a 1-digit number or 2 die to subtract a 2-digit number.
Then, you will need a piece of squared paper or whiteboard to record your working out. Roll the die until you have nothing left of the blocks. The first person with no blocks is the winner!
