Resource Person: Dr. Raghavendra, Asst. Prof., Department of ICT, MIT, Manipal.
Date: 11/09/2023
Day: Monday
Time: 02:00PM – 03:30PM
Topic: Unlocking the IoT Universe: Navigating IoT Boards and Protocols.
The second session of our IoT FDP started at 2:00PM post working lunch and featured Dr. Raghavendra S, Asst. Prof., Department of ICT, MIT, Manipal as the resource person, who provided valuable insights into MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport). Prof. Nazia A M introduced our esteemed resource person to the gathering. Dr. Raghavendra began by introducing MQTT as a lightweight, efficient, and reliable messaging protocol designed for low-bandwidth, high-latency, or unreliable networks. He emphasized its wide adoption in IoT and M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication. He also outlined the main features of MQTT. Dr. Raghavendra explained the concept of the socket address in MQTT and discussed how MQTT uses the socket address, which consists of an IP address and a port number, to establish connections between clients and brokers.
Following the presentation, the workshop participants engaged in a lively Q&A session, seeking clarification on MQTT-related topics and practical implementation scenarios. Dr. Raghavendra S provided detailed answers and shared examples to illustrate MQTT's application in real-world IoT projects.
After Dr. Raghavendra’s talk, Prof. Nazia A M, extended her heartfelt thanks to the Resource Person. Prof. S. V. Prasad had the honor of presenting a memento to Dr. Balachandra as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution. The memento symbolized the gratitude of the organizers and participants for his informative and inspiring talk.
