Topic: Connecting the Future: Exploring IoT and Ensuring Security.
The First session of the FDP on IoT started at 11:30 AM and was convened with great enthusiasm. The session began with Prof. Nazia A M introducing our esteemed resource person Dr. Balachandra, Professor, Department of ICT, MIT, Manipal. Prof. Nazia provided a brief overview of the resource person's background, expertise, and accomplishments in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT). The resource person initiated the session by delving into various aspects of IoT. The resource person explained the layered architecture of IoT, emphasizing the importance of each layer, such as the perception layer, network layer, application layer, etc. The resource person provided insights into the Industrial Internet of Things, explaining how it has revolutionized various industries, including manufacturing, energy, and logistics. He also emphasized the role of IoT in transforming agriculture and achieving precision farming. The resource person acknowledged that while IoT offers numerous opportunities, it also presents challenges, such as security and privacy concerns.
Following the presentation, there was an interactive Q&A session where participants had the opportunity to seek clarifications and share their thoughts. The resource person provided detailed answers and engaged in productive discussions with the participants.
After Dr. Balachandra’s talk, Prof. Nazia A M, extended her heartfelt thanks to the Resource Person. Prof Gangadhara, had the honour of presenting a memento to Dr. Balachandra as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution. The memento symbolized the gratitude of the organizers and participants for his informative and inspiring address. The first session concluded with a working lunch for all the participants.
