Purpose:
To express yourself using the concepts of surrealism;
To learn about surreal artists such as Salvador Dali, Renee Magritte, Frida Khalo and contemporary photographers: Rachel Baran, Laura Williams, Manu Pombrol;
To continue to explore advanced Photoshop tools to create a seamless, convincing surreal self portrait.
definition: artists depicting odd or illogical scenes and created techniques to allow the unconscious mind to express itself.
Manu Pombrol N/A
I noticed the that the main similarities between these two artists is the simplicity of their surreal photos. They both mostly include people but something is either distorted or changed about them. The big difference I noticed is that Manu Pombrol mostly photographs himself in his surreal photos. But Renee Magritte creates their photos on photoshop and doesnt use real photographs as a base.
Renee Magritte (Son of Man), (1973)
I think one of the most important things to remember when taking self portraits is to get the lighting right. Experimenting with different lighting can really change a photo, and remember to adjust the settings before hitting the timer and taking the photo. Also getting the right angle is crucial for a good photo. I will use my tripod and set it up in different spots to get different angles and perspectives to a photo.

I think this one could be cool because taking the front of my face off and putting something in between could be interesting.
I think this one could also be cool becasue I like the idea of making myself lighter as sort of a shadow behind something.
