Essential Question: What are the necessary skills to create a convincing still life drawing?
Purpose:
To create a still-life drawing that demonstrates understanding of angles & ellipses in perspective, along with using a chosen and conscious mark-making technique to describe form; To understand value by creating a good range of values between black & white to help make the objects appear 3D; To demonstrate quality craftsmanship and good composition skills in a drawing.
Artists Studied: Henry Moore, Giorgio Morandi, Vincent van Gogh, Winslow Homer, John Whalley
Reflection:
I used etching in my final still-life. I used Winslow Homers style of etching. I think this was the most fun of all the techniques and with all the etching markings going in the same direction made it look better.
I learned different types of mark making because in the first one I just shaded and smudged it to make the shadow. But in the final I learned new styles of shading.
The necessary skills are mostly shading, knowing the depth, also getting all your shapes the correct size in comparison to each other.
