Image to wood/canvas transfer

Purpose:

To explore combining different mediums with photography;

• By transferring a black and white photograph onto wood, students engage in an exploration of alternative mediums beyond traditional printing methods. 

To integrate photography and painting;

• Merging photographs with acrylic painting allows students to blend the realism of photography with the expressive qualities of painting.

• Students will experiment ways to reinterpret and manipulate the original image.

To produce quality craftsmanship:

• Attention to detail and precision is a must in the application, image transfer, and surface preparation.

• Refined brushwork, color mixing and texture application.

• photograph - perhaps adding layers of meaning and emotion

• Theme, exploration, technical skills, and creativity are the key to success

To communicate personalization and expression:

• Students will personalize their work by exploring themes, narratives and styles that have surfaced.

• Through their artwork, students will communicate their own unique perspectives and experiences.
