Purpose: Make a slab mug that demonstrates connecting slabs securely, creating and attaching a handle, and illustrates a personal narrative. This should be done through the handle, textures, added-on features and/or glazing
Reflection:
My narrative mug tells a story about my time backpacking in the Swiss, French, and Italian Alps this past summer. I decided to use slab pieces on the outside of my mug to depict the mountains and hills I crossed during the 20-day, 130-mile-long trek. I also included the Swiss and Italian flags to show the countries that I traveled through. The small brown building located at the top of the hill was made to show the Refugio I stayed in for one night before we entered Chamonix, France. I also added a small carving to show the trail that we walked along circumnavigating Mont Blanc.
I think that I could have added some hikers to effectively depict that I was backpacking. Or I could have added some animals that were local to the area like the Ibex that followed us through France.
