The genre is about both the picture and the photographer. Street photography can be captured anywhere and doesn't need to have people in it. Street photography can’t be fully described and trying to describe it is like trying to describe what sweet or salty is - you can't describe it but you know what it is when you see it. Overall the photos are meant to prompt the viewer.
Something to consider when capturing street photography is that there are feelings, stories, or questions that should be seen within the photos. But when taking photos you need to have ideas in mind, like finding interesting or unique scenes. When first getting into street photography you have to push through fears and then develop your own voice while figuring out what makes a good photograph. The most important aspect that needs to be considered when capturing street photography is to practice frequently because that's how you'll get better.
Some fears come with shooting street photography, which may include getting general tips down technically and the way you handle yourself when you get approached or get caught. When taking pictures of people in the street, it might be awkward or uncomfortable at first, but it takes time to get used to. If you get caught the best way to handle the situation is to be polite about it and if they seem uncomfortable about it, then simply delete the picture(s). Pretending like you don’t know how to use a camera in a busy place might make you fit right in and not make it seem strange. Although practice shouldn’t be done in only one setting, being in a busier setting while adjusting to a new style may be helpful until you get more comfortable.
When it comes to street photography many ideas come to my mind. But as I'm getting started I want to follow the basics. Learning how to tell a story, as well as being observant, and getting used to being out of my comfort zone as there would be people in my pictures. To me, the two most important things while capturing street photography are to be polite and to practice a lot no matter where you are.
