Book Borrowing
How to Borrow Books
To borrow library materials, bring the items and present your currently validated university ID at any circulation counter. A transaction receipt will be placed inside the item. Do not remove the receipt. A fine of ₱20.00 will be imposed for a lost receipt.
Borrowing Priviliges
General & Subject Collection, Fiction
Students are allowed to borrow a maximum of 15 books for 10 days.
Some books may have limited borrowing days.
Reserve Books
Students can borrow 1 book at a time renewable for another hour or more if there is no request for the same title.
Reserve Books are for inside use only.
Reserve Books are located at the Circulation Counters of 2nd, 4th, and 5th floors Library Annex and 2nd Floor - Main Library.
Filipiniana, periodicals, theses & dissertations, government documents, FMBMC Collections, and Xavieriana are non-circulating materials and are for inside use only.
Borrowing Regulations
The borrower is responsible for returning checked-out materials on or before the due date.
Materials will not be checked out to those who have fines for overdue books.
Unauthorized withdrawal materials shall be considered as theft, and will mean loss of all library privileges and merit a recommendation of suspension.
Mutilation and defacing of library materials will also merit the same sanction.
Fines
It is important for all library users to be able to access the material they need. Therefore, we charge fines on overdue items to encourage users to return material promptly. The fines are as follows:
1. General Collection & Fiction - ₱5.00/day
2. Medical Books - ₱5.00/day
3. Filipiniana & Reserve Books - ₱5.00/hour
4. Reference Books - ₱5.00/day
Ask for a charge slip from the Circulation Counter and proceed to the cashier at the Finance Office. Present the official receipt to the library to settle your accountabilities.
Suspension of Library Privileges until full payment of charges.
Recalls
All materials are subject to recall at any time. Recalled materials should be returned at once.
Renewals
Renewal can be made only when the book is due for check in based on the record.
Hold Request
If you want to borrow a book that is already on loan, you may request to have it on hold when the book is returned. It will be held at the Counter for 3 days.
Lost Books
Lost books must be reported at once. The fine for an overdue book shall stop at the time the book is reported lost. A replacement copy of the same title and edition is due for any lost books.
If a replacement copy is not available, the assessment shall be according to the current cost of the book.
When a book reported lost is found and returned to the Library, the cost of the book will be refunded but there will be a surcharge of 20%.
Any book not returned at the end of a semester is considered lost.
Mutilated/Damaged Materials
Materials with missing or mutilated pages should be reported at once. Mutilated or damaged materials will cost the borrower a rebinding fee for those books judged fit for rebinding, or a copying fee for certain missing pages, or the replacement value of those too damaged for repair.
