The 3 Core Functions of Governance

National Governors Association (NGA)

We are a Gold Member of the National Governors’ Association which has many resources for governing schools - this covers Trust members, Directors and Governors.

If you are part of our governance, you should have been contacted by the NGA with log in details for their Members Area. You should also have a copy of their book, ‘Welcome to Governance’. If not, please contact the school.

As a Gold Member, we are entitled to legal advice and information. Email gold@nga.org.uk with your membership number, or call their GOLDline: 0121 237 3782

GovernorLine offers free, confidential advice, information and support to Governors. You can call or email them.

Governor Mark is a national award and kite mark providing external evaluation of the quality of governance.

NGA offers flexible e-learning to help governors, trustees, chairs and clerks develop their governance skills and knowledge.

The NGA  Learning Link is made up of high-quality interactive online training modules to help you develop your governance skills and knowledge. Modules reflect the latest legislation, the Department for Education's Governance Handbook and the Competency Framework for Governance.
