ESL I is for students who are English Language Learners and need to develop their language skills in English. This course is designed to provide individual attention to these students in order to help them achieve success in our educational system and provide them with necessary academic vocabulary. Special emphasis will be placed on speaking, listening, writing, and reading.

The goal of the Newcomer Academy is to provide a welcoming and respectful environment that meets the unique linguistic, academic, and social/emotional needs of students typically in their first year of instruction in a U.S. school. Emphasis will be placed on acclimating students with school culture, and an understanding of the public school system, practices and procedures related to academics, athletics, activities, etc.
