How did the earliest groups of humans live? We all know the idea of a cave man, but what does that really mean? How did the ability to get food to eat, and to have shelter from the elements evolve? While we may believe ourselves to be advanced in these areas, would you be surprised to learn that adaptaing to the natural environment, creating tools to improve life, and developing a language, religion and art were all characteristics of the time we call the Stone Age?

Listen to this Radio Lab story about a body that was found in 1991. It is believed to be over 5,300 years old. As you listen, make sketches of what you hear, and visualize the story in your mind.

Another fascinating discovery involves some teenagers in France. One day, while outside, they discovered a hole in the ground that was new to them. They followed the hole into the ground and discovered underground caves. On these cave walls were paintings that seemed odd, and old. The boys quickly reported their findings and the rest is history.
