We definitely feel at home! Into week 4, the feelings are great about being in Room 22! The hard work is starting to show off and we are definitely ramping up our learning and dedication!
It was great meeting many families last week. The connections between our school learning community and your homes is crucial for making learning and our students' experiences at school positive and exciting!
Keep working hard and ask your friends if you aren't sure!
We are excited about our Terry Fox Run this coming Friday. Remember, if you can, bring in a Toonie for Terry this week!

Terry Fox Run - Friday, September 26, 2025
We are on our way with reading and using our symbols. This past week, a bookmark was sent home to complete with their name and the symbols for reading on the other side. This is a great conversation starter about our reading program to start the year. This week, we will start with some book conferences where we will use our symbols to help with our communication and understanding. Keep an eye on Google Classroom for the rubric!
This week, we will dive deeper into building strong sentences and paragraphs by using description. The use of adjectives and adverbs will be important for our learning and to help with conveying our ideas and understanding. This will lead us into our Passport Explorer project starting the following week.
We will continue reading, and the program will start this week with self-selected reading using guiding symbols to track our learning. We will be reading various articles to help us ask simple and complex questions and understand better how to answer different types of questions.
This week, we will begin our weekly word list for a spelling test at the end of the week. Each list will contain various words with a common phonemic theme. Lists will be provided on paper on Mondays and will also be shared on Google Classroom for students and on my classroom website. Please help your child review the words and help them prepare for the test on Friday. Ten words will be chosen at random for the test. GOOD LUCK! The words can be found here.
Week 1 - Le son /an/ qui s’écrit « an», « en», « am» et « em» Liste avec «an».
Our library days will be DAY 2. Library bags will be provided, and students will select French books to bring home to read.
The start of our learning will be asking deeper questions for research and formulating mind maps that will allow us to prepare our research. Our focus will be on Famous artefacts and how they impact our understanding of the world around us.
