This will be a great week and opportunity for learning as we transition into new ideas and units of study
Wednesday, November 26, 2025
This week we will move into new learning with our Reading and Writing as we move to the holiday break.
In writing, we will begin exploring procedural writing and use science as a focus to make connections to this type of writing. We will have fun with some cool experiments and have the opportunity to share them with the class.
In writing, we will move to comprehension and Graphic Novels to help with understanding and character development. Stay tuned for some great learning and ideas!
This week, we continue our Phonemic modules. Students will be immersed with French sounds/phonemic awareness and be able to practice this in class using their notebooks and whiteboards. Ask your child all about this, this upcoming week! with the second part. This will help with creating small reading groups to encourage and boost our reading fluency and comprehension.
Semaine 10 - Les mots INVARIABLES
We will continue our weekly word list for a spelling test at the end of the week. Each list will contain various words with a common phonemic theme. Lists will be provided on paper on Mondays and will also be shared on Google Classroom for students and on my classroom website. Please help your child review the words and help them prepare for the test on Friday. Ten words will be chosen at random for the test. GOOD LUCK! The words can be found here.
Our library days will be DAY 2. This will be this TUESDAY!
4/ We are looking at the political map of Canada and the provinces and territories. We will look at similiarities and differences between the provinces. This will be presented in a brochure format
5/ Now that we have made our land acknowledgements, we have a better understanding of the life and culture that our local Indigenous Nations share with us. We will amplify this to the Canadian level, looking at other groups and make comparisons. This will be presented in a brochure format
6/ We are using the quote by Carl Sagan, "You have to know the past to understand the present," and we will make Connections and see the Cause and Consequence of past Canadian events and how they shape the present. We will use the Komugata Maru as a class example to support our learning.
