Weekly Highlights
We gave our Year 11 students a clear runway for their mock exams last week, and the celebration of Halloween today was absolutely worth the wait. Today, our students dove in, unleashing a spooktacular display of creative costumes. Everyone had well-deserved fun.
Last Friday, six WIS students competed in the inaugural International School Science Debate Competition (ISSDC) at Discovery College, debating topics including AI and socioscientific issues.
Our students were articulate and confident, delivering strong arguments across all rounds. Team WIS emerged as the Champions of the entire competition.
Well done to the five debaters: Jeffrey, Braydon, Rochelle, Harini and Jasmin. Congratulations to Year 13 Yanyan on her Vice Presidency of the ISSCDC.
Year 13 IB DP Biology students have embarked on their Internal Assessments (IAs), conducting independent research across a diverse range of topics.
Through designing and executing their own experiments, our students are developing a strong scientific mindset. They will continue to document their findings as part of their journey in scientific inquiry.
On Monday evening, Year 11 parents explored our Post-16 options and held meaningful conversations with teachers to support their children in realising their potential in higher education and beyond. The evening featured an exciting discussion of the IBDP, IBCP, BTEC and Engineering pathways.
Parents particularly enjoyed the Arts and Design tour for a glimpse into the programme, and found the specialist guidance on Higher Education, university applications, and career pathways invaluable for preparing for the next step.
In their latest HKSSF game, the A Grade Badminton Boys prevailed. The results indicate a highly competitive match where the team achieved a narrow but decisive win. Excellent job!
What a superb display of courage and teamwork from our Boys’ Field Hockey squad. Facing adversity from the start, our team kicked off with only ten members but showed incredible spirit. Their resilience paid off with a commanding 3–1 victory. Congratulations!
It was a momentous occasion as our first-ever Girls' Table Tennis team represented WIS in the HKSSF A Grade Table Tennis Tournament.
Led by Most Valuable Player and Captain Katrina, the team competed enthusiastically against a ferociously talented local school and secured a few winning games in their debut.
Well done to Katrina, Eulalia, and Matilda for taking this important first step towards a new chapter for girls' sports at WIS.
The A Grade Boys’ Cricket team recently took part in an incredible match. The opposition set a high target, but our WIS team responded with outstanding knocks and managed to secure a highly unusual and nail-biting tie. Well done, team.
Our U14 boys footballers demonstrated outstanding maturity and sportsmanship in their recent match. The game was played in a competitive yet remarkably respectful manner, culminating in an impressive 8-1 result. Well done to the team!
Our U16 Girls Volleyball Team had a fantastic experience on the court. The team's increasing confidence was evident, helping them achieve better resilience and performance during competitive sets.
Year 8 Ethan competed against 16 other wrestlers in the Japan Saori Yoshida Cup, winning the championship in the 38kg Freestyle category.
