ESF Chairman's Awards

58 graduates from the Class of 2025 at West Island School received the ESF Chairman’s Awards, with a total of 61 awards recognising outstanding achievements in academic and non-academic areas—including leadership, community service, school spirit and values, sports, and creativity.

A special mention goes to Eli for receiving the Abraham Shek Award, and to Nina for earning the Carlson Tong Award for her exceptional performance in the Bilingual Diploma.

Exam Results

Our Class of 2025 achieved exceptional results in the IB Diploma Programme, IB Career-related Programme, and BTEC.

These outstanding outcomes reflect the dedication and hard work of our students, as well as the unwavering support and commitment of their teachers and staff.

First Week of the School Year

This week, our classrooms, corridors, and shared spaces buzzed with energy. Although the rainstorm delayed the first day for returning students, their enthusiasm and positivity quickly filled the school. New students settled in with ease, supported by our dedicated teachers and staff. It was heartwarming to see everyone reconnecting, engaging, and diving into a vibrant start to the term.

Students in Years 12 and 13 kicked off the term with engaging team-building activities.

Year 12 explored Post-16 learning and school life, building connections and confidence. Year 13 focused on preparing for their next steps beyond school, setting goals and strengthening collaboration.

WIS Junior Researchers at Poly U

Through the last Term and into the summer, Aiden, Kayle, Cheuk Lam, Brianna, Aastha and Joshua participated in the Junior Researcher Mentoring Programme at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Each of them undertook an innovative and socially relevant research project, reflecting both scientific inquiry and creative exploration. Their topics ranged from sustainable energy and functional fashion design to public health, education and adolescent psychology—showcasing a remarkable breadth of curiosity and commitment to meaningful impact.

Student Achievements

Ice Hockey: Representing Hong Kong

Year 11 student Gwyneth Shei proudly represented Team Hong Kong China in the Women’s U18 category at the U-Series China National Youth Ice Hockey Championship, held over the summer in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia. The team placed 6th overall, and Gwyneth was honoured with the Most Valuable Player award in their final match.

Violin: Music Journey & Scholarship

Year 8 student Neil placed second in the junior violin category at the VIII International Liszt Ferenc Competition in Budapest.

He also received a full scholarship as part of the MiraTone Special Prize and has been invited to perform at the MiraTone Music Festival next year.
