Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
We have enjoyed another fantastic week in Year 2, culminating in Year 2D’s wonderful assembly on China on Friday. We trust that everyone enjoyed it if you were able to attend. In Maths, we studied position and direction, getting to grips with concepts like clockwise and anticlockwise, and learning about quarter turns, half turns, and three-quarter turns before following and describing directions. It was really useful (and fun!) to get the cars out to help us follow directions. In History, we explored the conditions in the hospital at Scutari as we learnt about Florence Nightingale and the positive changes she brought there. The children did a fantastic job writing postcards home from the perspective of a soldier in the hospital. In English, we looked at the film Up, focusing on the exciting part where the house lifts off the ground and floats into the sky! We wrote about this from Carl’s perspective, using all our senses to describe what he might have seen, heard, felt, and smelt. The writing was so amazing, one could almost imagine being there! With such an exciting week of learning behind us, we can’t wait to see what next week has to offer!
Have a lovely weekend!
