In Maths this week, we focused on multiplication and division by 2 and 5, which involved ‘skip’ counting, recalling and using multiplication and division facts and solving word problems. In Geography, we started our new topic, ‘Let’s explore London!’ and shared everything we knew already about living in this world famous city. In Science, we continued with our ‘Materials: Good choices’ topic, by looking at the advantages and disadvantages of using different materials for specific purposes, based on their properties. We studied three different types of plastic and discussed why they are best suited for their purpose. In English, we capitalised on the anticipation of Bonfire Night to plan and write firework poems, linked to the five senses. Our classrooms were filled with the delicious aroma of hot chocolate, marshmallows, and our hands got rather sticky when eating crunchy and gooey toffee apples. Our ‘Fireworks’ acrostic poems were a pleasure to read and enjoy!
In History, we reenacted the story of the Gunpowder plot with each child taking a turn to play the part of one of the characters involved. With this in mind, we hope that you all enjoy a fun and relaxing weekend, especially if you are going to a firework display!
Have a wonderful weekend.
