We have had a wonderful start back after our half-term break! We jumped right into learning with the new Black cat sounds 'r' and 'b.' Our activities helped bring these letters to life—like baking biscuits, a tasty treat tied to our 'b' sound, and crafting beautiful bracelets with 13 beads, which tied into our number work.
We explored the story of Guy Fawkes and learned about Bonfire Night, creating glittery, colourful firework art that now brightens up our classroom. In Maths, we continued our number journey, practicing numbers 11, 12, and 13 in hands-on ways that built our counting skills and helped reinforce these higher numbers.
We’ve also focused on blending our sounds, working hard to join letters and build words. The children practised matching pictures with words they wrote themselves, boosting both their confidence and reading skills. We have also been expanding our high-frequency (tricky word) knowledge with our Green Froggy words: 'he,' 'she,' 'me,', 'we’ and ‘be’.
We topped off the week with an exciting Space drama workshop, which brought the wonders of the universe right into our school, sparking imaginations and curiosity all around.
All in all, it’s been a fun and productive first week back, with everyone showing great energy and enthusiasm!
