Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week has been so much fun! We started our week with a really fun trip to the Lavender Hill Magistrates Court (thank you Mrs Callaway!) and finished it with our last Willington World Book Day and a memorable Oates Thames Explorer trip . It has been a really great week!
In Humanities, Mrs Draper challenged us to show our understanding of coastal erosion by creating 3D coastal diagrams. In History, we’ve been exploring the Renaissance, discovering what life was like in 1500s Italy.
Even though we had fewer Maths lessons because of all the trips, we made the most of our time by practising how to calculate percentages. We learned to convert tricky percentages, like 12.5% and 33⅓%, into fractions to help find percentages of amounts. With Madam Veloso, we’ve been revisiting Spanish culture and traditions, deepening our understanding of life in Spanish-speaking countries. We’ve also revised greetings and how to introduce ourselves, ensuring we can confidently say our name and ask how others are. In addition, we’ve learned the days of the week and refreshed our knowledge of numbers up to 31, helping us to talk about dates and birthdays. — ¡bien hecho! 🇪🇸
In Drama, we continued our read-through of the script in character. Once we finish, we’ll move on to “blocking,” which means adding stage directions and movement. In English, we’ve been enjoying Goodnight Mister Tom, discussing the story and getting to grips with the West Country accents.
It really has been a brilliant week!
