Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week in English we were practising using all of the different types of fronted adverbials: manner-how, time-when, place-where, possibility-how likely and frequency-how often. We have been rehearsing our songs with actions in drama which makes the whole play come alive! In maths we compared different types of quadrilaterals and triangles, which was very interesting. We also learnt that a ten sided shape is a decagon! In science we tested our knowledge on states of matter.
In geography, we learnt about the process of the water cycle. We were amazed to learn that all of the water we have on Earth today is the same water which was around during the time of the dinosaurs. We learnt about John the Baptist and what he did in RS. We had so much fun during classics recapping all of the vocabulary we have learnt so far and we started to learnt the translations of colours.
We had a really fun time starting to make our marble mazes in Art, sketching our maze out first then adding matchsticks as walls. In Computing we were pretending to be journalists and making newspapers, getting information and piecing the information together to make a major news story about a tiger escaping from the zoo! This week, we learnt about fruit in Spanish. We learnt ten different types of fruit, it was very tricky and some of the words were hard to pronounce. In Music we were doing the last of the House Music auditions and continued practising Pantastic (our Peter Pan musical) songs.
The highlight of our week was World Book Day! We absolutely loved dressing up as a book character and thought it was funny that Miss Beadle and Miss Nijhuis dressed up as Peter Pan and Wendy. Everyone enjoyed being able to listen to three different teachers read their favourite books during 'The Big Read'.
