Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This Weeks News
This week, a group of Y4 girls from the Willington Helping Hands Crew continued our volunteering journey with the DONS local action group. The DONS local action group, are a local based charity who collect and redistribute food to families in need. Supermarket stalls are their main food collection points and, without the stalls, the DONS local action group would not be able to provide to so many local people in need. We are so proud to be giving back to our community.
Competition Time
We have teamed up with the Dons Local Action Group to donate an Easter egg this Easter. Our campaign will be called 'Give a little, hatch a lot' and we will be encouraging pupils across the school to donate an Easter egg by Friday 28th March. The DLAG charity will the distribute to eggs to those families in need this Easter.
We are looking for a poster advertising our 'Give a little, hatch a lot' Easter Egg event.
Please pass your posters to Miss Nijhuis (4Alpha classroom) by Monday 17th March. There will be a winner picked from both Pre-Prep and Prep, with the winning posters displayed around school. There is also a chocolate prize for the winning posters! Happy Poster Making.
This week was Food bank Friday. Thank you for your wonderful donations.
On the first Friday of the month, pupils are encouraged to try and bring an item in . Our donations will be going to Dons Local Action Group who have provided food for over 5.5 million meals to our local community. Our foodbank basket is located in school, and you can continue to donate items throughout the month if you would like.
Our next Food Bank Friday is Friday 4th April. Thank you for your support.
Did you know?
If you have an unwanted laptop or Chromebook, the “Keep kids connected” team at the Dons Local Action Group can restore and regift them to children to help reduce inequalities and fight digital poverty. Your device must be no longer than 8 years old, still in working order. It doesn't matter if you can't find the charger, DLAG can sort that.

If you have any unwanted furniture, DLAG will collect, restore and get it to families who are most in need.
