Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
Another hot but fantastic week as we quickly hurtle towards the summer holidays...and Year 6!
In History we were writing our Oregon trail survival guides to help other travellers avoid almost certain death as they took the 3800km journey from St Joseph, Missouri, to Portland, Oregon. Some us even chose to age our guides with coffee stains, crumpling and light ripping to make them look more authentic! In Geography we were looking at the key physical features of Japan before researching and writing a non-chronological report on a native Japanese animals that live in the diverse habitat of this amazing country.
In Maths, we explored algebra by solving equations with two unknowns and developed reasoning skills through a non-verbal reasoning lesson on shape logic. The class also tackled another challenging paper as part of the ‘Mini-11+ Accelerate’ programme. In English this week, we have been focusing on comprehension skills and applying them in test situations. Additionally, we have looked at persuasive speech writing, particularly the structure and persuasive devices to make it effective, in preparation for Head of House election speeches on the final day of term.
Have a great weekend and see you next week all packed up for our Residential!
