Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
We went to the zoo! And what a wonderful day we had there. The sun shone and we were able to see all sorts of animals - from mighty (if a little sleepy) tigers to squirming hairless moles. The penguins are always a huge favourite. Thoughtlessly, a monkey decided to give birth in the rainforest just as we arrived and we couldn't go into the main area - but that's nature for you. We were able to view life there on the forest floor, spotting monkeys, bats, tortoises and being able to experience the special smell and feel of the place and we also found many of the rainforest inhabitants we have learned about around the zoo. It's been a short week for learning as we also had Celebration Day of course, which was a big success and everyone performed magnificently and we spent some time with our lovely teachers for next year. In the classroom we made our own bar graphs and pictograms and learned how to write and address formal letters. We found out what happens to our letters when they are posted and how they get to arrive at our houses. We conducted more investigations into mirrors and had fun with mirror writing and we looked at contemporary information sources from the Iron Age looking at very early writing. The summer holidays are nearly upon us so we're looking forward to enjoying every minute of our last week in Year 3.
