This week has been a marvellous one, brimming with learning and curiosity.
In English, we continued exploring The Chronicles of Narnia. We engaged in lively class discussions about the moral dilemmas presented in the story. It was fascinating to hear everyone’s perspectives! Drama was a highlight as we improvised scenes between Mr and Mrs Beaver and the children, imagining their conversations as they planned Mr Tumnus’ rescue.
In maths, we revisited the concept of time. Although it’s known for its challenging aspects, we approached it with determination and made excellent progress! Science was another action-packed session, where we embraced our roles as electricians for two experiments. First, we investigated electrical conductors and insulators by testing various materials to see which ones made our bulbs light up. Then, we made our own switches using card, split pins, and a paperclip, experimenting with what happened when the switch was open or closed. It was such a thrilling lesson!
In history, we learnt about Boudicca, the fierce Celtic queen who rebelled against the Romans. In geography, we memorised the names of some major UK rivers, and in classics, we practised using correct verb endings. Religious Studies introduced us to the story of David and Goliath, which we explored further through a Kahoot quiz – great fun!
In art, we continued working on Michael Craig-Martin-inspired pieces, focusing on painting in layers. We’ve been designing our own menus in French, inventing creative names for our cafés, and including our favourite foods and drinks. We also made sure to set reasonable prices for everything! Finally, in music, we started studying The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, learning about the seating plan of a symphony orchestra and its historical context.
