In Maths this week, we focused on the ten times table. The pupils began by practising counting in steps of 10, then worked on multiplication and division by 10, before ending the week solving word problems. In English we used the story ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’, in which different coloured crayons write to their owner to lodge their complaints, as a stimulus for role-play and letter writing. Our materials topic in Science moved on to Good Choices. We investigated how bouncy different types of balls were, and why they needed to be made from a certain type of material to be played with effectively in different sports. Year 2 expertly recorded these results in a table, before plotting their own graphs! In History this week, we focused on the oldest of Henry VIII’s children, Mary, nicknamed ‘Bloody Mary’ for her persecution of Protestants, whom she had burned at the stake. In Geography, the children continued to develop and practise their ability to use compass points to find their way between London's famous Landmarks. Of course, amidst all this learning, the rehearsals for the Nativity continued. The songs are sounding wonderful and the pupils are gaining confidence with their lines!
Have a wonderful weekend!
