Welcome to the end of another busy week on the top floor!
In Humanities, we have been learning about every day life in Ancient Sumeria. We have had a carousel of activities that Mrs Draper has set us - our favourite has been learning to write in the first ever written language, ancient cuneiform. We agreed it is impossible and we are so glad that writing has progressed! In Geography, we continued our Extreme Earth topic, and with hurricanes in the news, today we were learning all about how a hurricane forms and creating an information sheet on it.
In Maths, we completed another past paper and learnt more about examination strategy. We focused on being ruthless with our time, showing working out on questions with two or more marks, always simplify our fractions answers and make sure we complete the paper. On top of this we have been revising Fractions, Decimals and Percentages. Phew! In English we used figurative language to describe an image as part of our Accelerate programme. Then in our class text lesson, on Holes, we created a chapter title and used the PEE technique to describe a character.
In Drama, we continued to work on our open scripts, making decisions about which elements, non-verbal and verbal techniques we would use, to give meaning to the dialogue. We then performed our pieces, in pairs. Finally, in Science this week, we used the Bunsen burner for the first time - it was so exciting! We learnt about the safety flame, the blue heating flame, and how to open and close the air hole. We are proud to report that the safety rules were carefully followed by everyone!
What a week!
