Autumn is the second spring when every leaf is a flower – Albert Camus.
This week the children started looking, listening and learning some fun facts about the first signs of Autumn that is happening all around them, how and why some trees change colour and their leaves start falling during this beautiful season, and these trees are called "Deciduous". We also looked at some very interesting leaves that Mrs Mahmoud collected on her journey to Willington school, we looked at them closely with our magnifier glass and examined their different textures and veins. The children decided to use them for leaf printing, they chose different Autumn colours to paint the leaves and print them gently on a white paper so that they can see every detail of the leaf! The children produced some fantastic pieces to go on our Autumn display. They look very pretty, well done Nursery.
We also built our own shape houses with Mrs Boyd using different shaped pre-cut sugar paper. The children managed to build, design and decorate some beautiful masterpieces while thinking and counting each and every family member including the pets! and where they should be in the house!
Mrs Winter introduced to a very sweet story called “Leaf Man”, by Lois Ehlert, the children really enjoyed looking at the beautiful leaves and all the pictures that they are making, listening to that rustling sound , and they were particularly interested to know where the winds took Mr Leaf Man to? Look out for Mr Leaf Man he is maybe waiting to come home with you!
Have a great weekend, stay Dry!
