What a wet end to the week, but it has not dampened our enthusiasm in the classroom!
In History, we have been learning about what happened to Britain when the Romans left in c.410 and played a conquest game to understand why this time is named the Anglo-Saxon period. In Geography, we have been learning about sustainable energy sources and creating fact files - we were really interested in the technology designs for instruments to collect wave energy from the North Sea!
In Maths, we tackled mental strategies in addition, subtraction and multiplication. We then learnt how to choose the best approach to fit the sum we were trying to solve. In English we have been writing instructions on how to solve a crime using imperatives and time adverbials. We have also focused on punctuating speech and learnt a new rhyme to remember it. In Latin, we were working on a translation about Roman weapons and armour, and then created a model soldier!
In Science this week we started our new topic on Forces. We learnt what forces are and how they can change shape, direction, and speed, as well as keep objects still. The first force we explored in more detail this week was gravity. In Drama, we worked on our character development, thinking about how a chosen character would walk, talk and behave. We started off with a 'character walk' warm-up, then we worked in groups to play out scenes in which each character reacted differently to a given scenario.
Have a wonderful weekend!
