Another busy week in Year 1! In English, we became authors to write our own Percy the Park Keeper books, where Percy had to cool down the animals in boiling hot weather. Wow, we have some wonderfully imaginative and creative writers on our hands! Our Maths focus was on further practice of addition and subtraction, including doubling, and solving simple word problems using these skills.
Our senses topic in Science moved on to the sense of smell. There was a distinct aroma of garlic and onion in the classrooms after our experiment, and chocolate definitely proved more popular than cheese! In Geography, we continued our study of the United Kingdom, while in History we created a timeline of toys through the decades.
We are very much looking forward to our first trip of Year 1 next week, to the Lookout Discovery Centre, which will extend our scientific studies.
Have a lovely weekend!
