This week in English, we delved deeper into Danny the Champion of the World, identifying exciting examples of figurative language. We then stepped into Danny’s shoes, using the five senses to write a vivid description of his eerie journey through Mr. Hazell’s wood to find his father. In maths, we sharpened our skills with the 6, 7 and 9 times tables, and it’s been brilliant to see everyone’s confidence grow throughout the week. In science, we carried out an engaging experiment to discover which materials make the best thermal insulators. Using beakers wrapped in different materials, we measured the water temperature at regular intervals and found that bubble wrap and corrugated card worked best due to their air pockets.
In history, we worked together to sequence key Roman events on a timeline, while in geography, we explored the world’s continents, oceans, and countries. We learnt about the story of 'Perseus and Medusa' in Latin and during PSHCEE, we set ourselves meaningful goals for the year, remembering that "actions create achievements." Music was full of energy as we composed and performed rhythmic ostinato, creating rhythm chains in class. In computing, we honed our skills with text formatting and page layouts using Google Docs. Art saw us experimenting with oil pastels to create stunning multicoloured monoprints, followed by watercolour paintings of trains from our continuous line drawings and in French, we had fun learning the names of different foods.
Have a wonderful weekend!
