Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
Another week has raced by in Year 1! Our focus in Maths has been 2D shapes and we are now experts when it comes to the number of sides and vertices. We reinforced our learning with a trip to the Lego Room and discovered that it's much easier to create squares and rectangles out of Lego than circles and triangles! In this week's English lessons, our work on Percy the Park Keeper culminated in our turn to be authors, as we wrote our own books about 'One Hot Day'. Nick Butterworth had better watch out!
In Science, our learning about the senses reached 'taste'. We tried a variety of flavours and found that marmite really did split opinion and chocolate was, unsurprisingly, the most popular! In our History topic on toys, we heard about toys through the decades, from the 50s to the 90s, and worked in groups to produce a timeline. In Geography, we learnt about the flags and capital cities of the nations which make up the UK, and then had the chance to make our own beautifully coloured flags.
Have a wonderful weekend!
