Events - Prep: All pupils will take part in a minimum of five events, which will include the two events that they have chosen, plus the tug of war, class relays and 100m sprints. Some pupils will participate in six events should they be selected for the house relay too. No medals are given out for the class relay, tug of war and 100m sprint heats.
Event Timing: Both competitions will be finishing at the same time, around 4.30pm. Event timings are noted down, and if there is an E displayed by the event heading, it signifies that all pupils will watch the event. Please click here to access the Pre Prep schedule, and here for the Prep competition. These schedules will be placed on the front page of the school app in due course for easy reference.
Parking at Drax: Parking is always at a premium during a big event, so please arrive promptly to avoid disappointment. A member of Willington staff will be on hand in the car park to squeeze as many cars in as possible. Please do not park in front of the houses on the road leading to our sports pitches and, wherever possible, please car share.
Parent/Guest Picnics: Parents and their guests are invited to set up year-group picnics around the perimeter of the athletics events. Children will be given a packed lunch, supplied by the school.
During the Event: Staff members will escort children to the playing fields and supervise them throughout Sports Day until dismissal. Due to the high number of attendees, as well as for the safety and security of the children, they are required to stay with their designated staff teams at all times and are not permitted to sit with parents or leave their group. However tempting it may be, please adhere to this requirement, until your child is ready to be dismissed.
Dismissal: Children will be dismissed by their class teachers. At the end of sports day, parents will be invited to move to the gazebos to collect their children. Those children returning to Willington for Apres-School will remain in the care of their teachers and be taken back via coach or minibus. *Action required for all families: please complete this form confirming your child’s dismissal arrangements.
Post-Event Activities: POW will provide an exciting range of food and fun activities for after sports day which will be open from 16:30 onwards, once the children have been dismissed. At this stage, children are the responsibility of parents. All stalls/activities will use a token based payment system. Please look out for further information from POW regarding their sideline entertainment.
Contacting us during Sports Day - the school mobile phone will be monitored by Mrs Jackson and Mrs Hewitt, who will be stationed at the First Aid point. Please only use this number in the event of an emergency - 07842 031422.
Have a great weekend.
