Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This first week of our last Year 3 term has been packed full of exciting learning. We finished our amazing rainforest posters and they are going up on the wall to be admired and to inspire others to think about the horrors of global warming and deforestation. In English we moved on to poetry, kicking off with writing our own limericks. It was hard to get the scanning right but we had some lovely ideas. Our new Science topic on light and shadow saw us looking at why we have day and night. We had huge fun making our own shadow puppets. We have been reviewing all the work we have done in Maths and also looking at nets and the 3D shapes they can make. In History we have turned to pre-history, starting with dinosaurs, a big favourite, and thinking about the palaeolithic era of the stone age.
We got physical in PSHE, discussing the importance of exercise and testing our pulse rate after a (short) vigorous workout. We found out that, when you think about it, we all do quite a bit of exercise during a week even if it is just walking to school and having games sessions. An hour's exercise a day is a good goal. Christianity is our latest RS topic and we considered what we think Jesus looked like and why we think so. Much competitive behaviour was released as we took part in the inter house Times Tables Rock Stars challenge. Oates triumphed - but it was close!
So next week we're off on our trip and are hugely excited. Have a lovely weekend.
