Last week before the Christmas holidays, and as we type, the school is buzzing with Christmas excitement as we prepare for our annual POW Christmas fair!
In Maths this week, we have spent some time revisiting the Probability Scale, discussing the Monty Hall Gameshow strategy and learning about Probability Trees. In English, we started with practising our creative writing skills; writing a story inspired by an image. We also finished A Christmas Carol and have focused on Scrooge's transformation in the novella.
This week in French, we have continued practising how to tell the time and concluded this topic. We’ve also been discussing the French language around the world and have started a project about a French-speaking country. In Science, we have been learning about magnets. We carried out two experiments to reveal the magnetic field around a bar magnet. Using iron filings, we saw the pattern of the magnetic field, and with plotting compasses, we discovered its direction.
In Drama this week, some of the pupils recorded their radio plays, whilst the others prepared for their Bugsy Malone auditions by reading through script excerpts in pairs and small groups. In History we have been identifying the key features of Shang religious beliefs and practices. In Geography, we learnt about China's economy, identifying the key exports and imports and using new vocabulary 'trade deficit' and 'trade surplus'. We have also been learning about how earthquakes has affected China and thought of how building design can increase earthquake resistance.
Have a great weekend!
