This week in Reception has been full of festive fun and fantastic learning! We started with a bang as we performed our wonderful Christmas show. Our mums and dads loved hearing us sing, and we all felt very proud of ourselves. It was a magical way to start the week!
In Phonics, we dived into the exciting world of digraphs, learning ch, sh, and ng. We enjoyed tasting delicious cheese and biscuits to make it even more memorable, which helped us focus on the ch sound. We also got creative, making lovely silhouette sharks as part of exploring the sh sound. One of our highlights was learning a poem called The Singing King, which was full of ng words—it was so much fun! We also went on tricky word hunts, searching for challenging words in books and sentences. We’re becoming experts at spotting them now.
In Maths, we continued our learning by recapping numbers to 20, practising missing numbers, and refining our number formations. Everyone worked so hard to improve their skills.
It’s been a busy, exciting week filled with lots of learning and laughter. We can’t wait for our Christmas fair now!
We wish you a wonderful weekend.
