We've been having such fun at the POW Christmas fair this afternoon and have been decorating trees for our houses and the classroom as well as practising for our carol service, so are feeling truly festive. We've been learning hard as well though. In Maths we've been multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, 1000 and multiples of 10 and doubling, halving and finding numbers halfway between two others. The 7 times table song is also going round in our heads and we often burst out with snatches of it in corridors. We left Gregory in Tobago, happy with his new-found family at last, and wrote postcards home to tell all about the amazing things you can do there. We loved showing the travel presentations we prepared at home, advising each other on holiday destinations and sharing interesting facts from our chosen countries. In Science we got to make paper aeroplanes to test air resistance and found out how to measure force in newtons by using a force metre to pull a brick. Then we tried the same thing while putting the brick on top of marbles and on pencils to see how the force needed was affected by friction. We made birthday cards and invitations sprinkled with some Latin phrases we have learned and discussed fire hazards and what to do in a fire-based emergency.
It's hard to believe there's just one more Christmas-packed week to go! On the final day, next Friday, the children may bring in their own non-electronic games in named plastic bags, to play with their friends.
Have a great weekend!
