Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
THANK YOU, POW!! Your generous provision of a beautiful new Clavinova for our music classroom is appreciated! The instrument has a wide variety of instrument sounds, backing styles and recording capabilities which will make our music lessons even more exciting and every child in the school will be able to benefit from having this fabulous resource available for our musical learning. We are very grateful indeed.
It is wonderful to welcome everyone back to school, and as usual we started the year with singing in our Prep Assembly and KS1 Choir sessions. New topics and instruments await us, with much to be shared in our Spring concerts at the end of term. An inspiring music assembly on Friday from Mr Alex Wilson and Mr Owen Houlston who shared their fantastic playing and information about their instruments was a superb end to our working week.
Instrumental tuition
If learning an instrument is one of your child's new year's resolutions, please look at the Music website (link just below) for further information on our wonderful team of tutors and an application form.
Orchestra
If your child plays their instrument to around Grade 1 standard and is keen to participate in Orchestra, I encourage them to join our Wednesday afternoon rehearsals! With so many budding instrumentalists in our school, our core group of players is keen to welcome fellow players to join the group and share in future performance opportunities (as well as weekly fun!) We welcome all instruments, and pianists will have the opportunity to develop their skills on tuned percussion instruments (including our beautiful orchestral xylophone). Please let me know if you have any questions or want to participate this term.
