Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
It has been a busy and exciting first full week back in Year 2! Once again, the pupils have demonstrated their conscientious attitudes and enthusiasm for learning. In Maths, we got back into the swing of things by completing the opening pages of our new Maths books. This included number-related revision exercises such as counting in 3s, reading and writing numbers up to 100, comparing numbers using the < and > symbols, and estimating numbers on a number line. It was a great way to wake up our Maths brains! In English, we had an intriguing mission from the World Wide Witch Watch. They asked us to design wanted posters to help locate the dreaded witch, Esmeralda, who escaped from the oven in Hansel and Gretel. The children were incredibly creative and enjoyed this imaginative task. Our new Science topic focuses on how materials change shape and the forces involved. The pupils had so much fun using Play-Doh—and even their own bodies—to explore key vocabulary like bend, twist, squash, and stretch. In Geography, we’ve started a fascinating journey to China. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be diving deeper into learning about this incredible country. In History, we traveled back in time to 17th-century London during the Great Plague. It made us all very grateful for the modern medicines we have today! What a wonderful start to the term—it’s been full of curiosity and learning!
