Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
We're back and full of enthusiasm for a new term. It's always a pleasure to read about everyone's activities when the children write their recount of the holidays. As the January temperatures drop, we are looking at weather around the world using the BBC weather forecast site, noticing the vastly different climates and spotting the hottest, coldest and wettest places on earth. We are checking and recording Wimbledon's wintry weather. In Maths we are conquering column method multiplication before starting on division. Our new Science topic is magnets and we are finding out what a magnet is and conducting experiments to discover which metals are magnetic. We made a paperclip dance on the end of a string, which was very pleasing. This term we are reading Roald Dahl's "The Twits" and thoroughly enjoying revelling in the disgusting habits and gross appearances of the dastardly couple. We used the text for a comprehension and to learn how to summarise. We are also thinking about what Jews believe, how to show respect to people who are important to us and that a Latin adjective always agrees with the noun.
Stay warm this possibly snowy weekend!
