Christopher W. Thompson Memorial Scholarship

HM3 Christopher W. Thompson was killed in the line of duty and this $500 scholarship is awarded by the local VFW Post 1142 and Ladies Auxiliary in his memory. One scholarship awarded to a student at NWHS and one awarded to another student from the other county high schools. Deadline is May 1.


​Clingman Community Center Scholarship 

$1000 scholarship for a EWHS student who has at least a 3.0 gpa and has been active in the local community. Deadline to mail application is April 1.


East Wilkes High School Athletic Boosters Scholarship

Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to student-athletes with a minimum 3.0 gpa. You must submit an essay on "How My Life Has Been Influenced by Being a Student-Athlete at EWHS". See your school counselor for more information. Deadline is May 1.


Gary D. Norman and Wade Whitaker Memorial Scholarship

$500 scholarship to a Easy Wilkes High School graduate who plans to attend Wilkes Community College. The chosen student will have demonstrated perseverance and dedication. Preference will be given to candidates who are planning to pursue a two-year degree or certificate in a technical or trade related program. However, the student's demonstration of perseverance and dedication under difficult circumstances will be the most important factor regardless of program of study. Deadline is April 1.


Herman Laffoon TPA Scholarship

$750 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior from East Wilkes, Elkin, or Starmount High School. This scholarship is awarded in the memory of Mr. Herman Laffoon, who was a long-time resident of the area and a leader in the Elkin Travelers Protective Association (TPA) Post for many years. Scholarship recipients are selected based on scholastic aptitude, character, participation in extracurricular and community activities, and financial need. Applicants must provide a completed application form, a certified transcript, and three references -- one from school, one from community, and one at-large, with none being written by relatives. Selected applicants will be invited to interview with the scholarship committee for final decisions. All application materials are due to the school counselor by April 1.


Justin D. Osborne Memorial Scholarship

The Justin D. Osborne Memorial Scholarship was established in honor and memory of a young man who was dearly loved by his family, friends, church, school and community. Justin dearly loved to sing and to play tennis, both of which he had become quite talented doing. One senior in the EWHS choral department and one senior on the EWHS tennis team will receive this scholarship. Winning candidates will show through their character, a love of music and tennis, as well as a love for their school and their community. Deadline is April 1.


Kiwanis Key Club Scholarship 

Celebrating their 100th year in 2023, the North Wilkesboro Kiwanis Club is excited to offer $3,750 in scholarships to students who are graduating senior Key Club members from the county high schools. The criteria for this award is demonstrated academic excellence, citizenship through service, and leadership. Students must be a current member of their school's Key Club to apply.  Scholarship amounts will be determined by the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee. Deadline is Friday, April 1, by 5 p.m.


Panther Nation Scholarship

$300 scholarship for a graduate of East Wilkes High School who attended Ronda-Clingman Elementary School for at least one year of their elementary school years. Deadline is April 23, 2021.


Reevestock Creative Leadership Scholarship

$750 scholarship for graduating senior who exhibits creative leadership. Application, essay, two reference letters, and proof of 2.0 or better gpa are required. Deadline is May 1, 2020.


Roaring River Ruritan Club

Club awards $500 scholarship to student with financial need. Simple application is required.  See your counselor for details. Deadline is April 15, 2020.


Tom and Nora McCann Scholarship

$1000 scholarship awarded to EWHS senior who possesses the ability to communicate, needs financial assistance to attend college, has achieved academically during high school (minimum of 3.0 gpa), has shown evidence of initiative to obtain a college degree, and has demonstrated evidence of school, community and/or work involvement during high school. Deadline is April 27.


North Wilkesboro Elks Club Scholarship (provided by Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #1846 Lodge)

The local Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #1846 will offer a $500 scholarship to one student from each of the county's high schools. Applications should be returned to school counselors no later than April 1. 


North Wilkesboro Rotary Club Foundation Scholarships 

Two scholarships are available at each of the traditional county high schools and one scholarship is available to students attending Wilkes Early College High School. The Hugh Martin Scholarship is for students planning to attend a four-year college or university and four $1000 scholarships will be awarded. The Gene Foster Scholarship is for students planning to attend Wilkes Community College (or another community college) and four $1000 scholarships will be awarded. One Ricky Pardue Scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a senior at Wilkes Early College High School who plans to attend a four-year college or university in the fall. Deadline for you to return your application to your school counselor is May 6, 2024.


VFW Scholarship

$500 scholarship awarded by the Blue Ridge Mountain VFW Post 1142 to a senior in each of the four Wilkes County high schools. Deadline is May 1.


Wilkes County Cruisers

A $500 scholarship will be awarded to one student from each traditional high school who is planning to pursue a career in a technical field. Successful applicants will be going into a technical field, have a 2.0 gpa (or lower), complete relevant technical coursework, and must plan to be a full-time student. A complete application consists of: 1) completed scholarship application form and 2) a copy of your high school transcript. All application materials must be mailed to the address on the application before April 25, 2024.

Yadkin Valley Rotary "Service Above Self" Scholarship 

This scholarship is awarded to a senior student who has demonstrated through their school and community activities a dedication to the Rotary ideal of "service above self." Completed application, personal essay, short answer response, two recommendation letters (from college counselor, teachers, or mentors), and an official high school transcript must by postmarked and mailed to the Yadkin Valley Rotary by March 27, 2020.
