Caldwell County Nurserymen Association (CCNA) Scholarships
The purpose of the CCNA Scholarship is to identify and reward ornamental horticulture and landscape students who exemplify scholastic aptitude, positive attitude, and industry potential. Work experience within the industry, leadership ability, and financial need will also be considered. The scholarship is open to any student residing in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, McDowell, or Wilkes County who will be enrolled in a horticulture program at an accredited institution in North Carolina during the next school year. Careers in Conservation Scholarship
The Careers In Conservation Scholarship Program was established to increase the number of qualified people committed to working in the field of natural resource management that directly support the mission of local Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Scholarship recipients will be students who are currently pursuing or have firm plans to pursue a college course of study leading to a degree in natural resource management or other closely related fields. The program is funded by generous donations of the Bowman family. The Foundation plans to award merit based scholarships up to $5,000 per student per school year, renewable at the discretion of the Scholarship Selection Committee. The recipient is required to have a declared major in the following study areas; agronomy, agricultural engineering, agriculture sustainability, agriculture education, animal science, forestry, natural resource conservation or management, plant science, soil science, water management, water quality, wildlife management or other closely related degree programs. To be eligible, the recipient must be a resident of North Carolina, attend a college in North Carolina, and have achieved academic excellence in their high school or in their undergraduate studies to date. During the selection process, consideration will be given to superior academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, honors and achievements obtained. Applicant eligibility will be influenced by the amount of any scholarships previously awarded and any demonstrated financial hardships. Deadline for applications is March 1.
Clare Johnson Marley - Mary Earle Berger Fine Arts Scholarship of NC Alpha Delta Kappa
$2000 (one time, non-renewable) scholarship open to any student who is currently graduating from an accredited public high school in North Carolina that follows the NC Standard Course of Study and who expects to enroll in a four-year college or university next fall, and who is declaring his/her major in an area of the fine arts. Specific eligibility requirements are: Academic rank in top 20% of class, Minimum SAT score of 1220 or ACT composite score of 25, good character and participation in extra-curricular activities (school and community). Financial need is not the primary consideration. The application is completed in a Google form and must be completed in one sitting. Be prepared to upload copies of two recommendation letters, your high school transcript, your ACT/SAT scores, and a video showcasing your talent at the time of application completion. Clingman Medical Center Scholarship
One $5000 scholarship ($2500 per semester maximum) for a student who has been dedicated to community service and plans to pursue a career in the medical field. The scholarship committee may also award smaller scholarships too. All applications must be mailed to the address listed on the application. Deadline is March 15.
Community Foundation of Western North Carolina
CFWNC serves students in the western region of North Carolina, including Wilkes County. Many scholarships are listed, with deadlines falling between January and July. Don and Carol Pardue Scholarship
Eligible recipients include graduating high school students from any Wilkes County high school with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and a demonstrated commitment to community service, planning to attend one of the 16 UNC system universities or Wilkes Community College. Applicants shall demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, or any course related costs required for all students such as books, supplies, and other equipment. Forgiveable Education Loans for Service (FELS)
Established by the NC General Assembly in 2011, the Forgiveable Education Loans for Service (FELS) provides financial assistance to qualified students enrolled in an approved education program and committed to working in critical employment shortage professions in NC. High school seniors are eligible if they are NC residents, have a weighted gpa of 3.0 or higher, have registered with the Selective Service (if applicable), and enroll in a applicable educational program and continue to make satisfactory progress toward graduation at the senior institution. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first served basis. Deadline is March 1.
Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) Scholarships
GAAS partners with the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF) and more than 30 other organizations to provide scholarships for students training to become automotive, heavy duty or collision repair technicians, and to students in business, marketing, engineering, or other major courses of study. This collaborate group has awarded more than 2,500 scholarships since 1998.One application allows you to be considered for all of these scholarships. Deadline is March 31.
James E. and Violet A. Carson Scholarship
Successful applicants are residents of Wilkes County who have been accepted into a two or four-year college or university and demonstrate financial need. First preference will be given to members of or children of Cub Creek Baptist Church in Moravian Falls; second preference will be for students who live in Moravian Falls; and third preference will be given to other county residents. Deadline is March 3, 2026.
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is the nation's oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military families. Last year they awarded over $10.8 million to more than 2,700 students. 10% of those students were pursuing non-degree certificate CTE programs. They provide scholarships to eligible children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen, Chaplains, and Religious Program Specialists. Scholarships are for students pursuing a post-secondary education at any accredited school--whether that be a trade school, career training school, community college, or four-year university. Be sure to check out the eligibility criteria, scholarship FAQs and this CTE scholarship brochure to get all of the details. Deadline for undergraduate and associate degree scholarship applications is March 1. The CTE scholarship applications are reviewed on a monthly basis, so it's never too late to apply.
Mary Rose Mills-Linda Rankin Memorial Scholarship of NC Alpha Delta Kappa

NC Community Foundation Scholarships
The North Carolina Community Foundation offers scholarships to students in all 100 counties. These scholarships are available to students attending all types of institutions, including community colleges. You will need your school counselor's email address, the email addresses of your references, and FAFSA Student Aid Index if applying for need-based scholarships. Most applications close March 3, 2026.
National Technical Honor Society Scholarships
There are several different scholarships available to members of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). The applications are available September - April each year. Check out their website for details and deadlines.
The Next NC Scholarship is a financial aid program that helps most North Carolinians from households making $80,000 or less pursue a higher education, by fully covering tuition and fees at any community college in the state or more than half of, if not all, tuition and fees to attend any public university in North Carolina. Students attending a North Carolina community college will receive at least $3,000 - more than the cost of full-time tuition. Those attending a public university will receive a minimum of $5,000, which pays for more than half, if not all, of tuition and fees. All you need to do to apply is complete the FAFSA!
NC Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship
Eligible applicants must be graduating from a NC high school, planning to attend a two or four-year college or university, have a weighted gpa between 2.5 and 3.5, and either a SAT score (Critical Reading, Math & Writing) in the range of 1344-1560 or an ACT composite score of 20-24. Applicants are also judged based on their service to school, community, and church, as well as their integrity and leadership potential. Please note: Candidates with a higher gpa and test scores will NOT be considered. Deadline is March 1.
CFNC sponsored monthly $1000 scholarship drawing. Simply fill out the form and your name is entered into the drawing. A new winner is selected every month, but you have to re-apply every month for consideration.
NC Association of School Resource Officers (NCASRO) Scholarship
NCASRO will select one high school senior from qualified applicants in each of its 8 regions, to receive a one-time non-renewable $500 college scholarship grant. The grant will be deposited into the selected student's financial aid account at the college or university of their choice. Eligible students must be high school seniors on track to graduate, a resident of North Carolina, have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5 and who are entering an accredited two or four-year college or university. Strong consideration will be given to financial need, but scholastic standing will also be very important along with participation in extracurricular activities, personal reputation, and moral integrity within the standards of NCASRO. Completed scholarship application and recommendation form are due by March 31, 2025.
NC Cooperative Extension Administrative Professionals (NCCEAPA) Herter O'Neal Scholarship
Offers a $750 scholarship for a student pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in business or a business-related field of study. This brochure provide full details on eligibility. Deadline is March 19, 2025.
NC Golden Leaf Scholars Program
Up to $14,000 ($3,500 per year for four years) scholarship to a student enrolled in a public or private high school or community college in one of the participating 79 counties (Wilkes is one) who plans to attend one of the participating NC colleges/universities in the fall. Student must have financial need and have a strong record of academic achievement with extracurricular and community involvement. Applications are completed on CFNC website. Deadline is March 1.
NCHSAA Endowed Funds Scholarships
Thanks to the generosity of many donors, there are several scholarships offered to eligible student-athletes. Deadlines fall between November and April and require the submission of a form to the high school counselor to release transcripts to the scholarship committee. Please review all scholarships offered to determine your eligibility.
People Helping People by the State Employees' Credit Union Foundation
$10,000 scholarship to a public high school student attending one of the UNC system schools next year. Student must be a member of the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) or be eligible for membership through their parent/guardian, have at least a 2.5 gpa, and must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Preference will be given to students whose parents/guardians are public sector employees (federal, state, or local government; public health; or public education) who live and work in North Carolina. Additionally, preference will be given to students who are majoring in public service degree programs (such as public health, public education, public administration, or public policy). Students should review the eligibility criteria for this scholarship prior to applying. All application forms must be submitted through DocuSign. The District Scholarship Committee will review applications from all county high schools and select the three students who will move forward to represent the county. Final scholarship notifications will be made by SECU. The deadline for completed applications to be returned to high school counselors is March 7, 2025.
The NC Farm Bureau offers these scholarships (eight university level scholarships valued at $5,000 per year for four years of student at a college or university in an agriculturally-related field and four $1,000 scholarships to a community college to receive an associate's degree in an agriculturally-related field (or to prepare for transfer to a university) to recognize students who have exhibited leadership during high school and will continue to serve their communities in the future. There are two application forms, one for 4-year college/universities and another for community college applicants. Deadline is March 3, 2025.
Ted G. Wilson Memorial Scholarship
$1500 scholarship to a student who plans to enter a program of study and career in the construction industry. Academic ability and financial need will also be considered. Deadline is March 31, 2023.
The Health Foundation (application available on March 17, 2025)
Scholarships up to $2000 designed to help Wilkes students pursue making their health care career dreams a reality. Scholarship is renewable on an annual basis when students remain in good academic standing (gpa of 3.0 or higher) within their declared major. Past awards have been made to students studying to become nurses, respiratory therapists, optometrists, radiology technologists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and more. Deadline is July 3, 2025.
Tougher Than Nails Scholarship
$250 award provided by Wilkes Youth Life Development (WYLD) to a graduating senior who will be entering the workforce after graduation. The award is offered in memory of Clate Edsel, the grandfather of WYLD's Founding Executive Director. This scholarship is designed to help purchase equipment, pay a certification fee, or provide anything else that will help the recipient get a jump start in life and help make them "tougher than nails" and ready for all of life's challenges. Deadline is March 29.
Whitlow-Osborne EMS Scholarship
$2000 scholarship for a student living in a participating county (Wilkes is included) who plans to pursue a degree and career in Emergency Medical Services. Deadline is March 31.
Wilkes Community College Education Promise Scholarship
WCC Education Promise is a two-year, last-dollar scholarship designed to ensure every qualifying student graduating from high school in Wilkes, Ashe, and Alleghany counties can get a college degree from Wilkes Community College tuition-free. This scholarship program makes sure every qualifying student is 100% covered for the roughly $2,571 annual cost for tuition and institutional fees.

The Foundation has been providing financial assistance to students for over 94 years and has helped more than 15,000 students attend college. Last year, there were 614 scholarships worth $1.4 million dollars awarded to 537 students from Wilkes, Forsyth, Davie, Davidson, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties. There are many scholarships available through this site that all use a single scholarship application, with deadlines beginning in January.
