Equitable Excellence Scholarship
Over $1.8 million dollars in scholarships are awarded to students from across the nation each year. Students have the opportunity to receive a $2500 or $20,000 scholarship. Successful applicants come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, but all share similar drive, determination, and strong character. They must demonstrate courage, strength, and wisdom as shown by community impact through volunteer service. Deadline is December 18, 2025.
While filing the FAFSA is not a scholarship, it is an essential part of seeking scholarships and financial aid for college. Many scholarship programs use FAFSA calculations to determine financial need. Additionally, colleges and universities award federal financial aid dollars based on a first-come, first-served basis, so you want to be sure you are considered for aid you may be eligible to receive.
Lenoir-Rhyne Teaching Scholars
This scholarship program was developed to provide financial aid and ongoing enrichment activities for students who wish to pursue teaching as a career. Scholars receive an award of $5500 a year in addition to all other aid for which they qualify. A Scholar typically receives close to $20,000 annually to support their education at Lenoir-Rhyne. This is a highly competitive program and applicants should have a record of academic excellence and portray a deep desire to serve students through a career in teaching. Priority consideration will be given to application received by December 1, but applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators (NAFEPA) Scholarship
The purpose of the NAFEPA scholarship program is to promote student access to a variety of postsecondary educational opportunities and mitigate factors that might inhibit students from pursuing their career and life goals. There are four scholarships, each worth a total of $5000, distributed over two consecutive years ($2500 each year). The scholarships are in honor of four NAFEPA members who provided our Association with valuable leadership, having given time and talents to move our Association forward as a professional organization. Two scholarships are awarded to candidates pursuing a degree, license, or certification in the field of education. The remaining two scholarships are awarded to candidates in any field of study. Deadline to apply is January 1.
Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps: Marine Option Scholarship
The benefits of the NROTC program are larger than the financial assistance towards a college education. The program provides NROTC midshipmen direction, purpose, and a career of future service as a Marine Officer. Scholarships valued at $300,000+. Apply here. Deadline is January 15 (final board).
CFNC sponsored monthly $1000 scholarship drawing. Simply fill out the form and your name is entered into the drawing. A new winner is selected every month, but you have to re-apply every month for consideration.
NC Community Foundation Scholarships
The North Carolina Community Foundation offers scholarships to students in all 100 counties. These scholarships are available to students attending all types of institutions, including community colleges. Applications open on December 16. You will need your school counselor's email address, the email addresses of your references, and FAFSA Student Aid Index if applying for need-based scholarships. Most applications close March 3, 2026.
NCHSAA Endowed Funds Scholarships
Thanks to the generosity of many donors, there are several scholarships offered to eligible student-athletes. Deadlines fall between November and April and require the submission of a form to the high school counselor to release transcripts to the scholarship committee. Please review all scholarships offered to determine your eligibility.
Safe Kids Wilkes County Scholarship
The Safe Kids Wilkes County Scholarship was established to help a Wilkes County high school senior attend college. The scholarship may provide a $1000 one-time scholarship award for students who pursue full-time undergraduate degrees from accredited post-secondary institutions. Scholarships may be applied to the cost of undergraduate tuition, fees, room and board, books and other college expenses. In addition to meeting academic and financial need criteria, the recipient of this scholarship will be expected to collaborate with the organization on social media content creation. Wilkes Community College Education Promise Scholarship
WCC Education Promise is a two-year, last-dollar scholarship designed to ensure every qualifying student graduating from high school in Wilkes, Ashe, and Alleghany counties can get a college degree from Wilkes Community College tuition-free. This scholarship program makes sure every qualifying student is 100% covered for the roughly $2,571 annual cost for tuition and institutional fees.
