Golden Door Scholars

DACA, TPS, and undocumented students are ineligible for federal financial aid and in-state tuition in most states. Many scholarships also require citizenship. This prevents tens of thousands of qualified students from accessing higher education. Golden Door Scholars eliminates this barrier by providing large college scholarships for undocumented students. They invest in undergraduate education and career access for high-performing students. As a Golden Door Scholar, each student has access to mentorship year-round. Mentors guide students in their career paths and create helpful connections with others in their field. Examples of programming include the Golden Door Tech Fellowship, the Summit, Financial Workshops, Community Building opportunities, and much more. The Tech Fellowship is a paid summer opportunity where students learn to code and create websites individually and as a team.  Applications are accepted until October 1.

Levine Scholarship to UNC-Charlotte

The Levine Scholars Program is UNC Charlotte’s most prestigious merit scholarship program that was established in 2009 by benefactors Sandra and Leon Levine. The inaugural class of Levine Scholars entered in the fall semester of 2010 and a new cohort of approximately 20 students is selected to join the program each year. Levine Scholarships are awarded to extraordinary high school seniors based on scholarship, ethical leadership and civic engagement. Students must be nominated by their high school counselor  or complete a self-nomination for this scholarship, so please see your counselor (at least two weeks prior to the deadline) if you want to be nominated. Deadline for all student nominations is October 15. Nominated students must complete their online application (and send all supporting application documents) to UNC-Charlotte by November 1. The deadline for all nominated students to complete their Levine scholarship application (with all supporting documentation) is November 15.

Morehead-Cain Scholarship to UNC-Chapel Hill

The Morehead-Cain Scholarship was the first merit scholarship established at the first public university in the United States, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Morehead-Cain Scholars are driven leaders possessing the rare combination of potential, principle, and purpose, who seek—and receive—more from their undergraduate experience than academic achievement alone. The full scholarship provides summer programming and unique networking opportunities for students who are destined to impact —positively, profoundly, perpetually—the people and pursuits that will define their life. Each high school in Wilkes County can nominate a candidate for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship, so please see your school counselor (at least three weeks prior to the deadline) if you want to be considered for school endorsement. Additionally, students may apply directly for this scholarship if you feel you meet the eligibility criteria. The deadline for the scholarship application is October 1.
